UV Light Used to Sterilize Airport Escalator Handrails
David Ward at Airport Experience® News reports airports have installed new and innovative ultraviolet light (UVC) devices on high-traffic airport escalators in that can continuously disinfect surfaces by killing up to 99.9 percent of bacteria and viruses. There are current installations in San Jose, Calif., Dayton, Ohio, and elsewhere. The Schindler’s Ultra UV Pro handrail device uses an invisible dual UVC light to destroy bacteria and viruses, preventing their spread.
